A graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu, California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, Chef Chay has worked with many talented chefs on the West Coast who have helped hone his skills and inspire his culinary philosophy. He attributes working in restaurants as the most important part of his growth as a chef. Though he found restaurant life exciting, he discovered that the most rewarding part of his career has been in teaching people how to cook and introducing them to food and culinary techniques.
His professional experience includes teaching cooking classes and hosting culinary events at Viking Home Chef, Professional Culinary Institute, The Cities of San Jose and Santa Clara, The Boys and Girls Club-Peninsula, and Savory Kitchen. Chef Chay accredits much of his success to his time spent as the Resident Chef at Sur La Table in Palo Alto, teaching and overseeing one of the most successful culinary programs in the country. This experience afforded him the opportunity to work with incredible chefs and to build relationships with the vendors, artisan food producers, and farmers that he still works with today.
At KitchenPop, Chef Chay has created unique cooking experiences for people from all walks of life. Regardless of your current culinary skills set, knowledge, or age, KitchenPop has classes for you. As a chef, his greatest joy is seeing delighted faces when his students prepare a beautiful plate of food and knowing they now have the confidence to keep cooking.
